My iPhone Cover

March 30, 2012

I love seeing other people's iPhone covers so thought I would share the case I am currently using. I was previously using a Cath Kidston one but after seeing a friend at work using this sparkly one I had to buy it. Even better is that it only cost £3.70 (have noticed its now gone down to £3.45!) from eBay with free p&p- there are lots of similar styles from different sellers but I bought mine from this seller and have had no problems.

What phone cover are you currently using?

New L'Oreal Paris Elvive Nutri-Gloss Crystal

March 28, 2012
I had to post about this new range from L'Oreal as soon as I possibly could because in a nutshell- L'Oreal have released some hair products that are sparkling. Yep- sparkling and in pink bottles! This shine enhancing range is embedded with pearls and micro-crystals which claim to leave hair dazzling. I am yet to try the products but hope that the sparkling products translate to my hair.

Just to prove it, here is some sparkle for you:

The new range includes a shampoo (RRP £2.69), conditioner (RRP £2.69) and a 60 Second Saviour (RRP £4.99) which illuminates and smoothes the hair's surface for improved light reflection in 60 seconds.

Do let me know your thoughts if you've tried this lovely new range!

My little bag...within my bag

March 24, 2012
Before I saw this little idea in Fleur's 'What's in my bag' YouTube video it was a nightmare having to find something in my bag. It is still a bit of a nightmare as I love big bags and consequently fill them with bits and bobs that I really don't need to be carrying around with me- however this little trick has made my bag searching a lot easier.

I have used this little zip up bag that I bought from Primark to house all of the random bits and pieces that I keep in my bag and that I use on a regular basis. It keeps them all in one place and if I have a headache and need some painkillers I know exactly where they are.

In my little bag I keep:

♥ Compeed blister plasters ♥ Carex Antibacterial Hand Gel ♥ Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic Spritzer ♥ Co-codamol ♥ Boots 17 Lipstick in Beehive ♥ WHSmith Pen ♥ Alka-Seltzer

Can you guess their secret?

March 20, 2012

This is the teaser video from John Frieda for their new Full Repair Range (post to come soon with the details). Can you guess their secret?! I can definitely empathise with all of these girls! I straighten or curl my hair every day (except for at the weekends when I'm just mooching around the house) and my hair is probably crying out for a break- but I just can't stop! Am really looking forward to giving my hair some TLC with John Frieda's new products.

Current skincare routine

March 18, 2012
I thought I would do an updated skincare routine as I have been using the same products for a few months now and am very happy with my skin at the moment. I used to have constant trouble with spots on my chin but since using these products I haven't suffered any (watch one pop up tomorrow now!) and if a spot appears it has gone by the next day. I suspect it may be the use of Cetaphil as I know this is a great cleanser for acne.

Step 1. I use the Bioderma cleanser (review here) to remove eye make-up. I find a lot of eye make-up removers make my eyes sting when I use them, however this is so gentle and feels just like you're using water. I would be happy to use this as the cleanser for my skin too but am trying to make it last as long as possible as it's not easy to get hold of.

Step 2. After removing my eye make-up I massage the Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser (review here) into my face and then rinse off with warm water- so easy! Cetaphil is unscented, massages in easily and makes my skin feel really squeaky clean.

Step 3. After cleansing I use the Embryolisse moisturiser without fail. I am a little bit obsessed with this moisturiser applying it in the morning, evening and sometimes in the day too. It's a rich moisturiser so perfect for winter and it's just amazing. It sinks into the skin so easily and makes it feel so soft and lovely. It's a great primer before applying make-up too. If you haven't tried, I urge you too! Like the Bioderma it's not easy to get hold off but I bought mine from the Guru Makeup Emporium for £10. One tube will last you a long time too!

I don't use these everyday but these are two other skincare products that work really well for me. The Liz Earle Gentle Face Exfoliator is the best exfoliator I've ever tried- it consists of tiny beads which don't feel at all abrasive on the skin and leaves skin feels zingy and like it's had a proper good clean. The Liz Earle Intensive Nourishing Mask is what I like to use after exfoliating. Again, it is a great product to use during winter as feels really moisturising. I simply apply a thick layer, leave it on for 15 minutes and remove with a trusty muslin cloth.

Do you use any of these products? What's your favourite skincare product at the moment?

PS. Happy Mother's Day to all the Mum's out there!

Parrot Print Scarf

March 17, 2012

Every week I eagerly await Victoria's Designer Inspired Posts- she tracks down designer inspired items on Ebay, most of which have been requested by readers through formspring. I spotted this Parrot Print Scarf in the 32nd post in the series and knew I had to have it. I am a sucker for a scarf. My clothes tend to be quite 'safe' and I usually stick to neutrals so love how a scarf can add colour and vibrancy to an outfit.

I bought this from the eBay shop that Victoria linked to in her post and you can find the scarf here. It only costs £10.72 and I am already eying up the other colours.

Mother's Day Ideas

♥ Gibsons Jigsaw Puzzle 1000 pieces (link) ♥ Panoramic Photo Mug (link) ♥ Choccywoccydoodah marshmallow sheep (link) ♥ Liz Earle Treatment Try-Me Kit (link) ♥ Accessorize Chelsea rose pastel chiffon square scarf (link) ♥ M&S 100 Stem Bouquet (link)

Just a few ideas that might give a little inspiration if you haven't already purchased a gift for Mother's Day. Technically the marshmallow sheep are for Easter but I couldn't resist putting them in! What are you going to buy your Mum for the celebrations on Sunday?

L'Oreal Paris Lumi Magique Collection

March 11, 2012
This month, L'Oreal Paris have released a collection of illuminating bases- the Lumi Magique Collection. I jumped at the chance to try these products as I'm always looking for products that will make my skin look more glowy and 'illuminated'. They arrived in a gorgeous box (pictured above) which opens to reveal the Lumi Magique Light Infusing Foundation, Lumi Magique Touch of Light Highlighting Pen and Lumi Magique Pure Light Primer and also a very handy mirror in the lid.

I've only had a quick try of these products and will do full reviews- however have included my initial thoughts below.

Lumi Magique Pure Light Primer (RRP: £9.99)

L'Oreal say: "Brighten skin with Lumi Magique Pure Light Primer, an instant light source which gives an enviably glowing complexion. Featuring Liquid Light TechnologyTM for an immediate illuminated optical effect, the skin’s surface looks flawless and full of vitality."

This can be used in a few ways; alone or under foundation or dabbed onto cheeks and brow bones as a highlighter. The product is a shimmery white cream which reminds me very much of MAC's strobe cream. As I mentioned, I haven't tried any of these products extensively but I liked mixing this with a more matte foundation (I mixed with Estee Lauder Double Wear Light) to give it more of a glowy look. I also think it will look fantastic as a highlighter.

Lumi Magique Light Infusing Foundation (RRP: £10.99)

L'Oreal say: "Illuminate and revitalise the look of dull skin with instant radiance with new Lumi Magique Light Infusing Foundation featuring Liquid Light TechnologyTM. Designed to deliver a natural looking luminous and glowing complexion, skin looks flawless, as if lit from within. A silky soft, fluid texture glides on seamlessly to enrobe skin with lightweight coverage without masking. Skin feels light to the touch and is hydrated for up to 24 hours."

My first impressions of this foundation were that I love the packaging. It's similar to the L'Oreal True Match foundation but more expensive looking and really reflects the 'illuminating' qualities that the foundation has. I have only tried the foundation once and thought it was good, but not amazing. I really hoped to be 'wow-ed' by this as it has all of the qualities that I want from a foundation. I am suffering from a few patches of dry skin and the foundation seemed to enhance these rather than providing moisture- however where my skin was normal/oily it looked lovely and definitely made my skin more luminous. I think I will have more of an idea about this after a few more uses so will make sure to do a full review!

If you want to try a sample of this before buying you can get one from the L'Oreal facebook page.

Lumi Magique Touch of Light Highlighting Pen (RRP £8.49)

L'Oreal say: "Smooth away the appearance of dark shadows with Lumi Magique Touch of Light Highlighting Pen, a light enhancing concealer pen. In one simple stroke, this brush on perfector helps to brighten the appearance of your eyes with instant light infusing radiance."

This is the YSL Touche Eclat of the range- a highlighting pen for use on dark circles and also for enhancing cheekbones and highlighting the face. I love these products as I don't suffer from bad dark circles but just need an extra something to make the area lighter. Whilst this doesn't live up to Touche Eclat (I don't think many under-eye products do!) it works well and is really easy to apply. And I adore the packaging!

Have you tried anything from the Lumi Magique Collection?

Take a Step in 2012 for Fairtrade

March 09, 2012

In case you weren't aware- it is currently Fairtrade Fortnight. A chance to get involved and show your support for Fairtrade products. I work for an amazing charity who have a lot to do with Fairtrade products and we've been lucky enough to have events in the office over the 2 weeks. We've had a Great Fairtrade Bake Off where you had to bake using at least one Fairtrade ingredient, and have also had a Fairtrade Market where all kinds of different products were available to buy- all delicious.

The Fairtrade Foundation have launched their 'Take a Step' for Fairtrade campaign. Every step that is registered on their website counts towards their total of 1.5 million steps that they're hoping to achieve by the end of 2012. Your step can be as little as buying a fairtrade product, telling your friends about it on Facebook or even buying a L'Occitane product from their shea butter range and reading their story- they all count because they are all helping life-changing projects in developing countries.

Whilst I was researching all about Fairtrade I found some interesting facts from their website...
  • Three of the top chocolate brands in the UK are now Fairtrade. Look out for Kit Kats and Cadbury Dairy Milk bars with the FAIRTRADE Mark and from next summer, Maltesers too!
  • 19 million glasses of Fairtrade wine were enjoyed in the UK in 2010. You can buy Fairtrade wines in most major retailers and selected wine merchants. Or savour a glass in one of 137 Marston’s pubs across the UK.
  • Three out of 10 bananas sold in the UK are Fairtrade. All bananas in Sainsbury’s are Fairtrade – they sell 1,200 Fairtrade bananas a minute adding up to a whopping 650 million a year.
Let me know if you 'Take a Step' for Fairtrade!
