I think that most people in the UK will agree that this past weekend has been a pretty good one. We have finally enjoyed some beautiful hot and sunny weather and it looks to be staying for some time. Chris and I spent Saturday at a wedding in Colchester which was really lovely. The reception was held at the Le Talbooth restaurant and I had the best dessert I've ever had at a wedding - salted caramel brownie with caramel ice cream and hazelnut brittle (mmm!). We then moved to the Maison Talbooth Hotel which has a beautiful pool house and we spent the next couple of hours lounging by the pool - some guests had even brought their swimsuits and took a dip! It was a stunning venue and I'd highly recommend it for a wedding, or even a mini-break.
On Sunday we drove home (encountering a lot of traffic on the way) and decided to have a BBQ. We feasted on portabello mushrooms, corn on the cob, chicken and vegetable kebabs, salads, burgers and sausages. I also tried the new flavour of Pimms- elderflower and blackberry, which was delicious and far too easy to drink.
We finished the day by watching the Wimbledon final - it was fantastic! Very pleased for Murray and it was so well deserved. Surely we should have a national holiday to celebrate?
