Giveaway - Zinio Digital Magazine Subscriptions

March 28, 2013

I used to be absolutely addicted to buying magazines. I started buying Girl Talk at the age of 7 and then moved onto the far more grown up Mizz and Bliss before finally entering into the world of Elle, Glamour and Cosmo. I used to buy far too many every month and luckily (for my bank balance) I have calmed down slightly and try to stick to buying just a couple a month.

Zinio is a magazine lovers dream. You can access thousands of top magazines from around the world and purchase subscriptions or single issues instantly from your computer, tablet or mobile to read whenever you like.  The site showcases over 5,000 digital magazines with readers in more than 200 countries and there really is something for everyone- I was very excited to see that they have Allure as this magazine is dedicated to beauty and is hard to find in the UK. They've also got all of the usual popular titles like Cosmo, Glamour and Vogue.

It's also worth keeping an eye out for their offers which come up regularly- you can currently get two years for the price of a one year subscription on select magazines which is pretty good- click here for the details.

So onto the exciting stuff- the giveaway! Zinio have been awesome and have given me 9 digital magazine subscriptions to give away to you lovely people.  I was actually given 10 subscriptions and was told that I was welcome to keep one for myself and that's what I've done- I've got to feed my magazine addiction too! I'm also excited to read a digital magazine on my iPad.

    Primark holiday purchases

    March 26, 2013
On the 3rd of April I am heading off to sunny Florida for 2 weeks to pay Mickey Mouse a visit and to get a much needed dose of vitamin D! My family and Chris are staying in a lovely villa with a pool and will be going to lots of the parks- I absolutely cannot wait. I have been to Orlando a few times now and just can't get enough of it- it will be Chris' first time there so I'm excited for him to come with us.

I decided that a trip to Primark was essential before we jet off and headed to the Tottenham Court Road store after work last week- I would usually visit the Marble Arch store but have heard a few bloggers saying that the Tottenham Court Road one is far better. I totally agree- it was busy but not awful and generally felt more spacious and enjoyable. I was very impressed with all of their spring/summer items and could have bought so much more.

So without further ado, here are my purchases:

I live in shorts and sundresses on sunny holidays and found these three shorts which I love. Some standard light denim shorts (£10) which come with a nice rose gold belt (usually I throw away the belts that come with items but quite like this one), a pair of bright pink ones with gold studs (£7) and a gorgeous pair with a floral and butterfly print (£4). I doubt I would wear these in the UK (maybe as pjs!) but for holiday they are so much fun.

I adore these broidery dresses which are a bargain at £5 each. I've already got one in white and couldn't resist getting it in more colours. They are so easy to wear, although you have to be careful with the lighter colours as they are very sheer! They have these dresses in so many colours.

This is the first maxi dress (£10) I've ever bought. I couldn't fit the whole thing in the photo but it is black with an interesting print on the back of it. As soon as I tried it on, I knew I had to buy it as it's surprisingly flattering (have been a bit wary of maxis as only 5ft 3!) and is perfect for evenings.

And finally, I bought a rucksack (£9). I haven't worn a rucksack in years but this is an essential when going round the parks in Orlando and I thought this was really cute.

    New Neom Reed Diffusers

    March 24, 2013

This month, Neom have added four new Reed Diffusers to its scent library. I am a recent convert to diffusers after trying their Christmas Wish offering and so was very excited to hear about their new scents.

    The four new scents are:

Cocooning: Blending light and fruity mandarin top notes with comforting florals of ylang ylang, chamomile and jasmine for the ultimate me-time scent. This fragrance is the perfect antidote to tired, weary bodies and for when you are feeling under the weather.

Invigorate: Made with an uplifting combination of grapefruit, bergamot and lime, it offers an energizing scent created to banish depression and lethargy, using aromatherapy oils which build up immunities and restore a physical, emotional and spiritual balance.

Sumptuous: A deliciously decadent fragrance blended with a combination of precious wild rose and neroli (orange blossom). This scent with calming rose oil is set to sooth and calm whilst neroli lifts the spirit and eases the mind.

Harmonise: With its deep, woody combination of pine, cedarwood & eucalyptus, it’s as uniquely warming as it is reviving. Ideally made for times when you need a moment of restoration or need to focus – it’s the best natural blend for helping clarity and concentration.

I decided to try 'Cocooning'* (after a lot of pondering about which scent I wanted) as it has been a very busy and tiring few weeks and I wanted a fragrance that would keep me energized.  This really did the job. It has filled our living room with it's lovely scent and is so nice to come home to.

The Neom Diffusers are £35 and can be bought from www.neomorganics.com

PS. not related to diffusers in any way but make sure to follow me with bloglovin'- link here!

    The Bubbles & Butters Company

    March 22, 2013
How scrumptious do these products from The Bubbles & Butters Company look? The Bubbles & Butters Company are a new brand of gorgeous bath and body products from the lovely makers of 'I Love...Cosmetics!'.

The brand describe themselves as embracing all things gorgeous and tasty and bringing a "unique range of ice-cream inspired nourishing skin delights and delicious cleansing products". The range is available in three flavours; Crazy For Chocolate, Scream If You Wanna Go Strawberry and Feeling Hot Hot Hot Mango, and include the following products:
    • The Bubbles & Butters Company Super Soft Bath Bubbles (450ml) - RRP £6.00
    •  The Bubbles & Butters Company Skin Nourishing Body Butters (275ml) – RRP £6.00
    •  The Bubbles & Butters Company Skin Moisturising Shower Bubbles (250ml) – RRP £4.00
    •  The Bubbles & Butters Company Super Smoothing Lip Butters (4g) – RRP £2.00
I have been indulging in the strawberry flavoured bath bubbles and shower bubbles and probably the most important thing to know is that they smell divine! The scent is very strong so if you like your bath products to be more subtle this may not be your cup of tea- I love my bathroom to be filled with a lovely scent and so these are brilliant.

The products are all available in Tesco Beauty Concept Stores and online at www.bathandbodyshop.co.uk.

    Inspirational quotes (1)

    March 17, 2013
My blogpost sharing some of my favourite Winnie The Pooh quotes went down well and so I want to make these kind of 'inspiration quote' posts more of a regular feature. Here are a few to make your Sunday that little bit brighter.

Organic Surge Fresh Ocean Light Body Lotion

    March 13, 2013

Meet the latest addition to Organic Surge's ever-growing range- their Fresh Ocean Light Body Lotion. The brand describe it as "a light, delicate body lotion that glides onto the skin and absorbs quickly for an instant burst of soothing rehydration" and it is packed full of active ingredients which include:

    • Aloe vera extract - naturally calms and moisturises the skin
    • Shea and cocoa butters - moisturises and conditions, promoting cell renewal
    • Sunflower seed oil – helps to improve skin condition
    • Lemon essential oil - cleanses and detoxifies, helps to rejuvenate dull skin
    • Rosemary essential oil - purifies oily skin and stimulates cell renewal
    • Lime essential oil - naturally revives the skin and senses
    • Natural glycerine - a natural humectant which attracts moisture to the skin, helping it to remain hydrated and soft

The first thing I noticed when applying this was the gorgeous lemon-y scent. If you like citrus scented products then you will love this- it is a delicate fragrance and not too overpowering but feels really refreshing and soothing to apply. My one negative about this is that it takes some time to absorb into the skin so you need to massage it in for a few moments.

I'm continuously impressed with Organic Surge products and love how their products are free from all of those nasty ingredients like artificial fragrances and parabens but are just as good.

This new body lotion is £5.99 and can be bought from www.organicsurge.com.

    Mother's Day

    March 11, 2013

Sunday was a lovely day celebrating my wonderful Mum. Chris and I drove down to Surrey this morning and spent the day there. We quickly got down to business with presents and cards for Mum- I enlisted the help of my trusty messenger Charlie who carried my present down to Mum and then loomed over her as she opened it as you never know- there could have been food in that Pandora bag.

I bought my Mum the cupcake charm from Pandora which you can find here. I chose the cupcake as we have often baked together and with my blog titled 'Cupcakes and Cherries' it was quite apt! My brother also jumped on the Pandora charm bandwagon (only joking Ol) and bought her the Ghost charm which you can find here. He loves his games and liked how this looked like a Pacman character!

I'd love to say that I cooked a big roast for my Mum but it was actually Chris who made it all, in between fixing bits and bobs on his car -I think I'll keep him. It was delicious. Sadly I didn't manage to take a photo as we were all so busy eating! We finished our roast with Mum's homemade banoffee pie which was divine, as always.

I hope that you all had a lovely Sunday, whatever you got up to. And a big Happy Mother's Day to all of the Mum's out there for yesterday!

Glamour Magazine April Freebies- Percy & Reed

    March 09, 2013

Everyone loves a good magazine freebie and I always like to share them when I see a good offer. The April issue of Glamour Magazine comes with Percy & Reed freebies and there are four different products to choose from; a Shampoo, Conditioner, Finishing Polish and a Volumising Oil.

I decided to go for the Volumising Oil as it's a little different to the usual freebies offered. It's described by Percy & Reed as a multi-tasking oil which nourishes and repairs hair and helps out with strength and heat protection. I have been applying to towel dried hair and it's a nice little oil- it left my hair really soft and smooth. Also a great size to take on holiday and it will be joining me in Florida when I go in a couple of weeks (cannot wait!).

Will you be picking up Glamour this month? Which product will you be going for?

Elemis Brighten And Resurface Cleansing Duo

    March 04, 2013

My love affair with Elemis is now in full swing, especially since trying this duo from the brand. The Elemis Brighten and Resurface Cleansing Duo* consists of their Tri-Enzyme Resurfacing Facial Wash and a Soothing Apricot Toner.

The Tri-Enzyme Resurfacing Facial Wash is described as "a non-abrasive resurfacing cleanser boosted with patented Tri-Enzyme technology, galactoarabian and Brazilian babassu oil". I have heard many good things about the Tri-Enzyme range and this has not disappointed- it has quickly become my favourite cleanser and I plan to keep using it for a while. It smells divine and is a pleasure to apply to my skin- the consistency is quite runny and goes far so I use 2 pumps a day.

Although it's a cleanser/facial wash it is also an exfoliator as it simulates the skin's natural cell renewal cycle whilst gently exfoliating away dead skin cells. Since using this cleanser my skin has been so clear and looks so much brighter- I absolutely love this! As it is a resurfacing product you need to make sure that you wear a good SPF each day.

The Soothing Apricot Toner is "formulated with apricot extract to help soothe and harmonise sensitive, delicate and hormonal skin." This hasn't had the same wow factor as the cleanser but its a very nice product and smells lovely- of apricots as you'd imagine! I have been spraying the product onto a cotton pad and wiping over my skin, but it can also be used to refresh the skin by spraying it directly onto the face. It is an extremely gentle toner and suitable for extra-sensitive skin.

The duo is currently available for £29 and is worth £50- the cleanser is £29 on its own so you're basically getting the toner for free! It can be purchased here.
