If you are a regular reader of blogs then it's pretty likely you would have heard about La Roche-Posay's Effaclar Duo - it has been hugely popular and described as a miracle worker. I had a bad experience with the original Effaclar Duo (post here) but strangely the Effaclar Duo+ hasn't caused me any issues (post here).
The success of the product has led La Roche-Posay to introduce the Effaclar 3-step Anti-Blemish system which is a simple and effective at home routine, designed for oily blemish-prone skin. It combines three quick steps which when combined produce unrivalled results - according to the brand. The products aim to target and help with; blemishes, clogged and enlarged pores, excess sebum, uneven and rough skin texture and red and brown marks.
So what are the three steps...
1) Cleanse - Effaclar Purifying Gel Cleanser
This targets excess sebum and impurities and is a gel cleanser which you massage into the skin with a tiny bit of water and then rinse off. It can be used morning and night and is free from soap, colourants, parabens and oil.
2) Tone - New Effaclar Clarifying Toner
This step focuses on large pores and oily skin. It aims to smooth and mattify the skin whilst helping to tighten pores and crucially the toner contains no alcohol so is gentle enough to be used daily and on sensitive skin. As with any toner, you just dab the product onto a cotton pad and sweep onto your face.
3) Correct and Hydrate - Effaclar Duo+ Anti Blemish Cream
The final step targets blemishes, pores and marks and is their best selling product. The formula is described as the ultimate multi-tasker and addresses blemishes, oiliness, blackheads, clogged pores and also treats those pesky red marks that are often left behind. It also provides 24 hour hydration and is a great make-up base.
So how have I got on with the anti-blemish system? My skin has been relatively trouble free for the past few years (after lots of acne fun and games when I was a teenager) as I have been on a pill which helps with my skin, however I've recently taken a break from it as have been on the pill since I was 18 and felt it would be good to take some time off from using it. Anyway, since being off it I've noticed a few spots appearing and so this arrived at a perfect time.
The products are lovely to use- they feel light, refreshing and feel good for your skin. When treating troubled skin you just don't want fussy, fragranced products and these are the complete opposite. It cleared up most of the spots that had appeared overnight which I was really impressed with. I am going to be religiously using this trio!
The set launches this month and can be found exclusively in larger Boots stores and online at boots.com. RRP is £32.50.
