Doing:
  • Popped up to Lincoln to visit my parents. We had a BBQ and did some strawberry and raspberry picking.
  • Found a spot on Jenkin's Road in Sheffield where we watched the Tour de France. Chris is a big cyclists so he loved it - and I thought it was great too. Fab atmosphere and so much support for the riders!
  • My lovely friend Flora came to stay. We had drinks in Hoxley & Porter (highly recommend) in Angel and a bite to eat. The sun was shining the next day so we visited the local market and chilled in the park.
  • Spent even more time back up in Lincoln- I love being able to escape to the country! We went strawberry picking, had a lovely BBQ and spent lots of time outside in the gorgeous sun.
  • Went to Cambridge for the weekend to celebrate my friend's birthday. We went shopping, chilled in the park and had dinner and cocktails in Las Iguanas. Nom.

  • Since buying our flat I've become obsessed with homeware so this video from DollyBowBow made me very happy- loving all of the pastels!

July Favourites: My Top Three

July 29, 2014

The Body Shop Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder* - this seems to have become a bloggers favourite and I'm not surprised why. I have this in the lightest shade (01- Light Matte) and it's perfect for using in both summer and winter. It's a completely matte bronzer with none of those orange-y tones and so can be applied liberally and built up to the bronze look that you like.

Collection Fast Stroke Liquid Eyeliner - this product was such a bargain at £2.99 (currently £2.50 on Superdrug's website) and I purchased it after seeing Suzie use it (her eyeliner always looks amazing). It takes a bit of practice to apply liquid liner but I find that drawing a line in pencil first and then going over it with the liquid liner really helps when you're learning. The Collection offering is a really black black and is so glossy - perfect for that dramatic liner look.

L'Oreal Lumi Magique Concealer* - I love all of the products from L'Oreal's Lumi Magique range and this one really stands out. It's really comparable (in my opinion) to the YSL Touche Eclat and is perfect for brightening under your eyes- it has a pink tone which really suits my skin tone. This has lasted me for ages and I will definitely be repurchasing.

What have you been loving this July?

Welcome to New Look Neom Organics!

July 24, 2014

At the beginning of July, Neom launched a really exciting new look and feel for their brand. This was something that Neom Organics had been working on for the past 2 years following lots of conversations with their customers. Their findings (from these conversations) were that the products are loved for their beautiful scents but the brand weren't communicating how powerfully good for you the complex blends of essential oils actually are.

Neom have now introduced four new treatment categories so it's really simple to find the right scent for you - these are Energise, Relax, De-Stress and Happiness. They have also renamed a few of their blends to better highlight their therapeutic benefits.

There have been other changes too. You can buy their candles in a smaller, 1-wick form; their signature 3-wick candle has become even larger to pack more fragrance in; a whole new body collection has been introduced with some lovely new scents and their hand and body lotions now work as one. Read about all of the changes here.

You can also see that the packaging of their products have changed and I love the new look. Their candles and bottles are even more beautiful! I have been trying their Time to Unwind Bath & Shower Gel* which was formerly labelled as the Enchantment scent. This product falls under the De-Stress category and it lives up to its name! I am such a big fan of a bath oil and love to use a capsule of this in my bath in the evening. It relaxes me whilst also being really moisturising for my skin.

You can check out all of Neom's products on their website here. What do you think of the new look Neom?

Balance Me Super Toning Body Wash and Body Oil

July 22, 2014

Balance Me are a brand that I am hearing more and more good things about. I always know that a beauty brand has become well known when people at work (rather than just in the blogging community!) start talking about their products. I love their Wonder Eye Cream.

The Balance Me sulphate free body washes have been multi-award winning products since their launch in 2005 and new advances in natural skincare technology mean they have been able to reformulate and improve their three sulphate free washes: rose otto, super moisturising and super toning. Their packaging has also been jazzed up and the price has been reduced to £9 for 200ml. I have been giving the Super Toning Body Wash* a whirl which is one their best-selling body washes. It features a spa-inspired blend of ingredients which include juniper, lavender, geranium and bergamot essential oils. The body wash feels fantastic to use (as well as smelling divine)- it's a really thick formulation which makes it feel very luxe and moisturising.

Alongside the Super Toning Body Wash* is their best-selling Super Toning Body Oil. This was the very first Balance Me oil and is fused with the same ingredients as the body wash. It also includes lots of super moisturising oils such as jojoba, macadamia and wheat germ. You can use this product daily to improve skin tone, soften and smooth skin and Balance Me recommend drizzling oil into your hands and then massaging into your skin, concentrating on thighs, hips and bum. The oil is a bit more pricy at £20.

ALDI Lacura BB Cream

July 20, 2014

My Mum is a big ALDI fan and is always showing me her latest purchase from there - whether it be some quiches or a beauty buy!

The last time I was visiting she showed me the Lacura BB Cream and I gave it a try over the weekend - and subsequently ended up taking it home with me! I really love this stuff. It is described as a BB Cream with a touch of foundation and aims to conceal, smooth fine lines, moisturise, provide SPF15 protection - all whilst blending in with your skin tone.

It provides a really light coverage which is why it's perfect for the warmer months, however the main draw for me is that it gives you a really lovely glow and blends perfectly with your skin colour. I don't know exactly how much this cost but from looking online it seems to be around the £5 mark.

ALDI beauty products seem to only be on sale for a limited time, or only in certain stores but if you see this then I'd definitely recommend giving it a try!

Tangle Teezer - My Latest Love

July 17, 2014
If I could recommend one thing for you to buy this year, it would be this little beauty. The Tangle Teezer.

It has been around, and hyped about for a while but I decided to pick one up recently (The Original) and was amazed. This is just magic! It's quite tricky to explain how it works (I don't really know) but this brush detangles quickly and easily- unlike with a normal brush where you have to brush it slowly and carefully to get out all of the knots.

I find it best to use after my hair is wet after washing it. I get quite a few tangles and this brush just glides through my hair with no pulling or yanking- it's just amazing. I actually look forward to using it which is a little bit sad but hey ho, the Tangle Teezer is my new love!

You can buy the Tangle Teezer for £10.99 from Boots and it is worth every penny - promise.

Revlon ColourBurst Balm Stains

July 15, 2014

From L-R: Matte Balm in Mischievous, Matte Balm in Standout, Lacquer Balm in Coquette, Lacquer Balm in Demure, Balm Stain in Honey, Balm Stain in Crush

I had to write a post about my favourite lip products of the moment as I've added a few more to my collection. The Revlon ColourBurst Balm Stains have been out for a while and are sold as a lightweight lipstain and moisturising balm, however more recently they have introduced their Matte Balm Stains and Lacquer Balm Stains. The Matte Balms have a velvety matte finish (shocker) and so you need to make sure your lips are nice and smooth otherwise it doesn't apply evenly. The Lacquer Balms have a glossy finish and so the colour isn't as pigmented.

I was really excited to try the new balm stains and so purchased four when I was in Florida- Mischievous, Standour, Coquette and Demure. They are so easy to apply and I love the creamy formulation. I don't wear lipstick a lot so these are very appealing to me!

I thought I would prefer the Matte Balm Stains but actually ended up liking the Lacquer finish more- the Demure shade is my absolute favourite as is a 'your lips but better type gloss'. I also enjoy how you can apply it without a mirror.

Do you have any of the Revlon Balm Stains?

You can buy the Revlon ColourBurst Balm Stains from Boots for £7.99.

The Body Shop Skin Diagnostic Tool

July 13, 2014

Today I wanted to share with you a nifty little feature that The Body Shop have on their site- it's their Skin Diagnostic Tool and is just a bit fun - and useful. I am a bit of a geek and used to do every quiz in the magazines I bought when I was younger (where have they gone? they used to have them in most issues!) so this was totally my cup of tea.

All you do is answer lots of different questions about your skin and how you'd like it to look. The Body Shop then give you a recommended range and nine products that should work for you, divided into three areas of cleanse, moisturise and targeted care. You can see my results page below which was mostly products from the Vitamin C range.

I have been trying one products from each area- most noticeable about this range is the orange scent which is quite strong. I like orange so was fine with it but if you don't then you might not get on with the products. The Vitamin C Energizing Face Spritz was part of 'Cleanse' and is a spritz to instantly hydrate and refresh skin. I love these kind of products for summer as after a long, hot day they are so nice to use! I also like to use this after applying my make-up as it helps it all to 'settle'.

The Vitamin C Daily Moisturiser was in the 'Moisturise' section (shocker, ey!) and has SPF 30 which was a big plus for me. It's a good quality, thick moisturiser and a little goes a long way. I really like the 50ml size as it's really great for travelling with.

The final product was from 'Targeted Care' and is the Vitamin C Microdermabrasion. This is an exfoliating product that should only be used twice a week. It contains micro particles and crushed garnet stones which help to remove dead skin cells and help keep skin radiant. You only need a tiny amount and just massage it into clean skin before rinsing away. It's a really gentle exfoliator and doesn't leave skin feeling harsh or stripped.

I love The Body Shop and I love how their website has so many user reviews- I find these really helpful. Would also recommend giving the Skin Diagnostic Tool a try to see which of their products could work for you.

Glamour Magazine Clinique Freebie

July 11, 2014

I love the freebies that come with the summer issues of magazines. Last month Glamour were giving away Eyeko products and in the August issue you can choose from four different mini Clinique freebies:

♥ Chubby Stick in Whoppin' Watermelon (pictured)

♥ Chubby Stick in Super Strawberry

♥ High Impact Mascara

♥ Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion

The Chubby Sticks are proving the most popular and seem to be very hard to get hold of. I had to go into a few shops to find one and there was only one copy left when I did find it! Well done Glamour - another freebie success story.

Top 5 iPhone and iPad Apps

July 10, 2014

Today I thought I'd share the iPhone and iPad apps that I have been loving at the moment. Please let me know your favourite apps as I am always looking for more to download!

1. Citymapper (free) - this app is amazing. It's currently only available in a number of cities across the world but includes London. In short it tells you the quickest way to get from A to B and includes train, tube and bus travel - you can choose from lots of different options including tube travel only, and there is even a rain safe option. It tells you exactly how many minutes it will take including walking time. I think I use it most days- it's just so good. If you live in London - download it now!

2. Stylist Magazine (free) - I pick up Stylist magazine every Tuesday from the station. It's a free magazine and it such a good read. They've recently launched an app so you can download the magazine to read digitally each week- again it's free and is great if you don't manage to pick up the hard copy, or if you don't go past a station each Tuesday.

3. My Weekly Budget (69p) -  this is a bit of a geeky one but I do like to budget each month and find this is a really great, simple app to help with it. I have tried a few of these kind of apps and this wins for me. You simply set your budget for the week and track what you are spending. It's really useful for seeing where your money is going and helps you be more aware of where those pound coins are going!

4. Bloglovin' (free) - I was so happy when Bloglovin' announced the iPad app. I love sitting on the sofa and going through all of the new posts. I follow all of my blogs through Bloglovin' and find it such an easy interface - you can follow Cupcakes and Cherries here.

5. IncrediBooth (free) - this is a really fun app which was created by Hipstamatic (another great app- they have some lovely filters) and is described as a photo booth in your pocket! You choose a filter and then your camera takes four photos and makes it look like a photo booth strip.

What apps do you recommend?

Bathroom Favourites

July 08, 2014

Since having my bathroom redecorated I've been spending a lot of time in there- it's just so lovely! Here are a few 'bathroom' products that I've been very much enjoying using.

Pureology Hydrate Shampoo and Conditioner - I wrote a post back in February dedicated to this shampoo and conditioner duo. Five months later and I am still loving these products. I don't use them every time I wash my hair as want to make them last as long as possible but when I do there is such a noticeable difference- my hair looks more shiny and the colour even looks more vibrant.

Bath & Body Works Beautiful Day Shower Gel and Body Lotion - I bought these in Florida and as you can by the level of the shower gel- it is going down a treat (someone, ahem- Chris, is enjoying it a bit too much!). The scent is so fresh, apple-y and gorgeous and always reminds me of my holiday. I like to layer up and use the shower gel, body lotion and then the fragrance mist. Beautiful Day overload!

Jergens Ultra Healing Body Lotion* - since coming back from holiday I have rediscovered this body lotion. It is great for prolonging your tan and giving you a massive dose of moisture! This sinks in easily and feels really nourishing.

♥  Organic Surge Awakening Body Wash* - this is a new launch from Organic Surge and is an invigorating fragrance for summer time. It's a really spicy fragrance which blends May Chang and Bergamot essential oils and is great for a morning shower. I really like Organic Surge body washes- they always feel really moisturising and produce a great lather!

Have you tried any of these products?

Recipe: Tortilla Pizzas

July 06, 2014

I have described this post as a recipe but there is hardly anything to it - it is such an easy meal to make and Chris and I have enjoyed it two Sunday's in a row! As you will have probably guessed- these are pizzas made with a tortilla base. When you put them in the oven the tortilla goes all crispy and lovely- which makes for a really tasty, light meal.

What you need to make a tortilla pizza:
  • 1 tortilla
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Half a can of chopped tomatoes
  • 1 garlic clove - crushed
  • Oregano or basil
  • Approx. 2 tbsp of tomato puree
  • Any toppings you fancy - I went for cheddar cheese, mushrooms and some pre-cooked chicken.

How to make it:
1) Pre-heat your oven to 180°c.

2) In a saucepan heat the olive oil and fry the garlic. Add the chopped tomatoes and leave it to heat through. I like to add some oregano or basil to the mix too. Take off the heat.

2) Put your tortilla on a baking tray and spread the tomato puree over the base followed by the chopped tomato mix.

3) Add your toppings!

4) Bake in the oven for 15 minutes until all crispy and pizza-looking.

Enjoy!

Claudia Louch Chamomile Facial Wash

July 03, 2014

I have recently been introduced to Claudia Louch, a brand I hadn't come across before. Claudia Louch is an internationally-renowned natural holistic skin specialist, nutritionist and health scientist who works in Harley Street. Her skin clinic is different to the usual as her approach to skin is completely natural and the ethos of the clinic is to treat every patient as an individual with all skin therapy programmes tailored to the skin's needs.

Claudia Louch has now created a line of skincare products to open up her expertise and one of these products is the Claudia Louch Natural Skin Clinic Chamomile Facial Wash*. This facial wash harnesses the natural anti-inflammatory and anti-allergen properties found in chamomile to cleanse, sooth and nourish the skin.

The facial wash is suitable for all skin types and is a lightly foaming gel facial wash that can be used morning and night. It is a clear gel which has a light chamomile fragrance (I love chamomile in products so was quite happy with this) and you can just massage it into your dry skin before rinsing well. I removed my eye make-up before with Bioderma as am not sure about using it on eye make-up. It left my skin feeling really clean, but not stripped and lovely and fresh. It hasn't broken me out either because it's so gentle and I am enjoying using it as part of my skincare routine.

As with all of her products, this is free from harsh chemicals including parabens and is hypoallergenic, allergy-tested and non-comedogenic (which means it doesn't block pores!).

The Facial Wash is a little pricey at £37.40 (but you do get a big 240ml bottle of it which would last a long time and delivery to the UK is free) and is available exclusively from www.claudialouch.com.

June Favourites: My Top Three

July 01, 2014
I can't believe it's June favourites time- how quickly is this year going?! It's quite scary. Here are the three products that I have been hugely enjoying this month...

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation - this must have been in a favourites post before. I absolutely adore this foundation and have repurchased it a few times. It has such a flawless, glowy finish and feels really moisturising too. It is 100% my most loved 'drugstore' foundation.

NYX Butter Gloss in XX - I bought this when I was in Florida as don't often see NYX in the UK. It is such a great lip gloss- it has the perfect amount of pink colour, is not at all sticky and feels super moisturising.

NARS Illuminator in Copacabana - this was another buy and was totally because of Hannah Maggs (I am addicted to her Sunday vlogs). She mentioned mixing this with her foundation to add a glow and I knew I had to have it. This is such a great illuminator- it adds a really subtle sheen if used as a highlighter and I really like mixing it with my base.

What have you been loving this month?
