I love a product that comes with a good history. Weleda's Skin Food is one of those products. It is one of Weleda's oldest products and has been around since 1926- it must be doing something right! Weleda's new Skin Food Saviour Kit* includes the infamous Skin Food and also comes with a flannel.
Weleda Skin Food is a nourishing and hydrating treatment which can be used in many different ways. Describing itself as a 'replenishing skin repair cream for dry patches of skin and for added protection' it is made with organic sunflower seed oil, and lots of lovely extracts including chamomile and rosemary. These ingredients make it a great rescue remedy for lack-lustre skin. It can be used on dry skin all over the body and the saviour kit encourages using it as a face treatment.
The face treatment using skin food has five simple steps:
1 - Thoroughly cleanse skin
2 - Warm skin with the hot flannel to open pores (a great tip that I'll be using when applying any mask)
3 - Apply a thin layer of Skin Food - it's quite thick so you need to be careful not to drown your skin!
4 - Leave on for 10 minutes whilst relaxing in the bath
5 - Gently remove any excess product with the flannel
I have used this and although it felt a bit strange to use such a thick cream product as a mask (it reminds me of E45 cream) it left my skin so super smooth and really quite clear and radiant. My skin was playing up at the time with my rosacea, and this didn't agitate it at all.
Weleda's Skin Food Saviour Kit costs £9.95 and can be bought from Weleda.co.uk.
