On Sunday we decided to take a trip to Columbia Road Flower Market - a place I'd heard lots about and had been wanting to go to for ages.
It's situated close to Hoxton station and really is a marvel. We made a slight error in that we arrived at 12.45 when it was absolutely packed - it was quite a challenge getting from one end to the other and we did get a bit squished, so I would definitely recommend going as early as possible. The market is open from 8am to 3pm.
Despite the hordes of people, it was great to see all of the beautiful flowers- and beautiful they were. From cherry blossom to orange trees to the most special kinds of roses. As it was later in the day we got two bunches of roses for £10 and there were plenty of great deals to be found. I am very pleased with these pink and orange roses which are sitting happily above our fireplace.
We also paid a visit to the nearby Geffrye Museum which is a a Museum of the Home. As you walk through the museum, you pass through living rooms from the 17th century to modern day, seeing how they change through the years. We also enjoyed a late lunch in their cafe which is really lovely and worth a visit.
PS. How much do I want that gorgeous Pomeranian?!
