Life: My Dream Staycation

August 06, 2015

I am a big fan of a Staycation (for those not in the know - it's basically a 'staying in the UK' holiday) When I have time off work I don't like to stay in my house as I end up just doing house chores and sitting in all day watching Netflix - as lovely as that is I find it so much more beneficial to go away and do something different to everyday life. Usually I just find myself escaping to my parents house in the country for a few days of relaxation away from the London smoke.

I've had a couple of Staycation's this year actually. To celebrate New Year I went with some friends to the Isle of Wight for two nights and a few weeks ago we went to the Center Parcs in Woburn, again with friends. Both only cost around £100 each and we had such a brilliant time.

ThinkMoney have asked me to share my dream 'Staycation' for over the August Bank Holiday (more info on the competition in their blogpost here) so here goes...

Where

It has to be Center Parcs. I just love it. I have been enjoying holidays there since I was 11 and must have been nearly 10 times now. I know it’s not to everyone’s taste but I always find it such a great place to escape from everyday life – it’s a lovely bubble of relaxation, fun and fresh air. There are a few different Center Parcs located around the country and I’ve been to Sherwood, Woburn and Elveden. My personal favourite, so the one I would choose for my dream staycation would be Sherwood Forest. I’ve been to this one the most so holds lots of nostalgic memories, and also has the best rapids in the swimming pool.

As it’s a dream staycation, we would most definitely push the boat out and go for one of their luxury treehouses.

Who

We’d get a cluster of treehouses and one would have all of my friends and one would have all of my family. It would be one big party with all of my favourites- hey, it’s my dream staycation right?

What would we do

It would be a mix of relaxing and fun activities. I adore the Aqua Sana spa in Center Parcs so we’d definitely spend a few hours in there, pampering and enjoying the different spa rooms. I’d also like to spend a night eating out, and then the other nights cooking in -if the weather is nice it’s lovely to have a BBQ in your villa. A trip to CP also wouldn't be complete without a visit to the Pancake House - the photo from my last visit is making me drool!

Apart from that, we’d spend lots of time cycling around and in the swimming pool – I could spend hours going around the rapids as they are always such a giggle. There'd also be a little badminton, table tennis, mini golf and plenty of relaxing in the villa with magazines and treats.

So that's my dream staycation in a nutshell - and I promise it's not sponsored by Center Parcs! Where would yours be? I'd love to know!

  1. Great post there! I’ve been to center parks a couple of times with family and remember it to be really nice. Although I was fairly young at the time I remember the swimming pool to be good except I was a bit small for some of the rides. There’s always lots to do! My brother enjoyed the snooker/pool area. Thanks for sharing! :-) Xx

    1. Thanks for the lovely comment! I love that there is so much to do in Center Parcs and you can make it exactly the type of break you want. If you just wanted to spend all time in your villa chilling you could!
